Bingo is one of the most popular and enduring games in the world. There's hardly a country or place that hasn't been touched by bingo. In many parts of the world, bingo is a social pastime that has become a favorite recreational activity by people of all ages and all walks of life.
Bingo has two common variations: the 75-ball bingo and the 90-ball bingo. 75-ball bingo is used in the United States while 90-ball bingo is popular in the United Kingdom, Europe and parts of the Commonwealth. What is the difference between the two, aside from the number of balls used?
In 75-ball bingo, there are 5 columns of 15 numbers for a total of 75 numbers to be called. The bingo card contains 25 random numbers ranging from 1-75. Each number corresponds to a particular letter (B, I, N, G or O), so there are 5 squares or numbers to every column.
Your goal in bingo is to complete a winning pattern. You mark the called numbers on the bingo card and if you create a winning pattern, you shout "Bingo!" and claim the prize. The first person to achieve a winning pattern wins the prize. There are more than 6,000 combinations of patterns so you have enough chances to win a game.
In 90-ball bingo, each card consists of 6 tickets of 15 numbers each. Each ticket is made up of 9 columns and 3 rows. Five numbers in the column of 9 squares have numbers ranging from 1-90 while the other 4 squares are blank.
90-ball bingo is different from 75-ball bingo in the way that the winners are proclaimed. Players who complete one, two or three horizontal lines are declared the winners and are given prizes. The game continues even if a player has completed a single horizontal line, and the player who makes three horizontal lines or full house gets the jackpot prize.
Unlike in 75-ball bingo, the numbers in 90-ball bingo don't correspond to any letter. 75-ball bingo can have multiple winners and several patterns while 90-ball bingo can only have up to three winners.
Which variation of bingo should you play? It depends on the type of bingo that is available in your place. Some players prefer 90-ball bingo because it has fewer winners and thus has bigger prize amounts. With the availability of online bingo, choosing which variation of bingo you want shouldn't be a problem.
75-ball or 90-ball? Whichever bingo variation you choose, you are guaranteed hours of fun, excitement and enjoyment.
